I hand-build cameras with pinholes for lenses. Inside each one, sunlight passes through translucent paper suspended in the dark, casting the world outside as a lively, glowing image. I photograph this vibrancy with a digital camera, moving with the sun’s light as it shifts and dances across the paper’s surface. The pliable screen allows me to collaborate with the light reflected by landscapes, buildings, bodies, objects—offering them image-sensations of themselves that are more felt than seen, closer to dream, memory, or a passing whim than to a thing fully known.
